It’s Saturday night and I’m at home, in bed, with a cold, basically waiting for death to come and get me (ok, I might or might not be exaggerating here slighty). The bad news: my plans to go discover Stockholm a bit more during the weekends haven’t really been fulfilled just yet. Ok, and I just feel pretty miserable with my stuffed nose and swollen eyes. The good news though: I have the perfect excuse to browse my rediscovered love Vimeo again.

Vimeo is a website where people can upload videos. Not so different from Youtube one might think but where Youtube seems to be focussed on all the great and crappy videos all together, Vimeo is all about proper quality videos and films. If I want to watch cats jumping up in the air because they see a cucumber, I go to Youtube. If I want to see the most beautiful timelapses, I go to Vimeo. A vlog of my favourite UK vloggers? Youtube! Artistic music videos? Vimeo. You get the idea.

Today I’ve spent quite the time on this heavenly website and I thought I’d share some of my finds with you. I was in quite a dramatic mood (blame the cold and the trouble I have breathing), hence the beautiful scenery, touching stories and great timelapses. I have this feeling I won’t be hearing any complaining though…

New Zealand – Winter Landscapes from Nathan Kaso on Vimeo.

How could I not start with my ultimate love? New Zealand still has a very special place in my heart and seeing this video makes me miss the country even more. The scenery is stunning and it is captured brilliantly by the maker of this video. And the fact that here in Sweden each night it’s getting dark 3 minutes earlier than the night before helps to get into a winter mood and digging the snow in the video even more.

Denali from FELT SOUL MEDIA on Vimeo.

A beautiful portrait of a man, a dog, life and death.

Lotawana On Ice from MAMMOTH on Vimeo.

A great visualization of a day on the ice of Lake Lotawana in the United States. It leaves you with a smile on your face, not only because of the feel-good atmosphere, but also because of the great editing and filming.

The Shadow Campaign // Sun Dog from DPS SKIS on Vimeo.

The filming is absolutely beautiful, there’s snow and skiing and most importantly: a dog running around. What else would you want? A nice soundtrack you say? Well, your wish was the filmmakers command.

The Lofoten Islands from Nick Kontostavlakis on Vimeo.

Last but not least, a video on the breathtaking Lofoten Islands in my neighboring country Norway. Seeing this makes me realize how insanely beautiful the country is and how I should save some damn money and make my way over there this winter!

… well then, was I right? You must have enjoyed these videos. If not, do we even know each other? Jokes aside, I absolutely love these videos and I hope you enjoyed them too on your lazy Saturday night, hungover Sunday or whenever you’re seeing this. And if not, there’s always the cat videos on Youtube :-)
